Skin-loving liquid eyeliner
Liquid Eyeliner: Flawless eyeliner
Like mascara or lip gloss, liquid eyeliner is a makeup bag staple. Smokey eyes, winged eyes, cat eyes... or simply making the eye area appear subtly larger and your eye color radiant: liquid eyeliner makes it possible with outstanding coverage, precision, and longevity. TINCTE by UND GRETEL, in the shades BLACK and COPPER, also scores points as a skin-loving liquid liner in natural cosmetics quality. Natural color pigments and a smartly designed applicator with an ultra-fine, tapered brush tip ensure magical moments with eye makeup in a completely skin-friendly way, while the smooth texture of the liquid eyeliner makes it easy to apply directly to the lash line.
Of all the eyeliner options available on the market, liquid eyeliners offer the most precise lines. The fine brush tip allows you to create any look with lasting effect, whether it's thin or thick lines, a soft cat-eye effect, dramatic makeup options for a night out, or colorful creations for special occasions like parties, festivals, or Halloween makeup. Compared to felt-tip or gel eyeliners, a vegan liquid eyeliner like TINCTE lasts longer and is less likely to smudge, ensuring your desired look stays fresh for a long time.
Step by step to swing
Creating flawless eyeliner with wings that visually lift the eye is easier than you might think. Provided you use a few tricks from the pro list and know how to use the curl of your own eyelashes and eyebrows (among other things) when using liquid eyeliner.
- Preparation: Even liquid eyeliner—which, unlike a pencil, isn't blended—lasts better and longer when used with a primer. ILGE Setting Powder is happy to take on this task, giving any makeup extra staying power.
- The order: Usually, a good eyeliner is step two of the desired makeup – it is applied after the eyeshadow and before the mascara .
- The technique for beginners: A magnifying makeup mirror and placing your free hand on your upper cheekbone are ideal. Resting your guiding hand on this supporting hand will help you apply the eyeliner more smoothly. To prevent the liquid eyeliner from pulling your eyes downward, first look straight ahead in the mirror and place a small dot of eyeshadow along the line from the outer corner of your eye to the end of your eyebrow, where you want the liner line to end. This would be slightly above and to the side of the outer corner of your eye, following the curve of your lower lash line. Only then do you lower your gaze to a tilted makeup mirror and begin applying the liquid eyeliner. Small dots from the center of the eyelid to the outer eye mark the stages, which are then connected in several strokes to create a precise line. From the inner corner of the eye to the center, a second, connecting line follows, close to the lash line. From the center of the movable eyelid, draw a line of liquid eyeliner to the wing tip and fill in the resulting triangle.
- The technique for advanced users: For those with more experience, draw the liquid eyeliner brush along the edge of the eyelid in two steps without lifting the brush. First, place the brush in the center of the eyelid, then draw it evenly outwards in one stroke, close to the lash line, all the way to the end of the eyelid or to the desired end point of the eyeliner. Then, place the fine brush back at the inner corner of the eye and draw a fine line toward the center, where the two lines join. For a bolder look, simply repeat this process, then draw the lines a little wider with the liquid eyeliner.
- Drying: The eyeliner should be completely dry before moving your eyes normally or performing any other makeup steps. It goes without saying that you shouldn't touch your eyelids while the eyeliner is drying.
- Smoothing: If the dry and finished line is still a bit messy, gently pull the skin of the eyelid toward your temple with your middle finger and lower your eyes to draw a thin, corrective line along the first line with liquid eyeliner. Stay close to the lash line, smoothing the line and filling in any gaps.
- The curl: By continuing the eyeliner beyond the actual lash line, the liquid eyeliner lengthens the individual eye shape and lash line. For this to look its best, the curl must point upwards as described - never to the side! This makes the eyes look sad because it visually pulls them downwards. To create the gentle upward curl, which continues or enhances the natural shape of the lash line (sometimes your own lashes point downwards!), neatly complement the eyeliner from the outer corner of the eye with the end point of the upper eyeliner line. By blending a light eyeshadow underneath this line, you can further optimize the lifting effect of this technique.
Liquid eyeliner for droopy eyelids – tips & tricks
Droopy eyelids present very specific challenges for any eye makeup application. Droopy eyelids are a common eyelid condition in which the skin on the upper eyelid falls over the eyelid, often making the eyes appear smaller. The first signs of droopy eyelids become apparent when the eyelid crease is longer than the lower waterline. As skin elasticity decreases with advancing age and the tissue sags, liquid eyeliner techniques must be adjusted accordingly.
Whether genetic or a sign of natural skin aging, droopy eyelids make applying liquid eyeliner a bit challenging. Because of the overhanging tissue, the line can't always be drawn evenly and precisely—or stay where you want it to. Even the most long-lasting liquid eyeliner often smudges under droopy eyelids or can no longer be defined as precisely. Simple makeup tricks can help.
The most important thing is not to raise your eyebrows when applying liquid eyeliner! Because as soon as they return to a neutral state, they will push the eyeliner, including the pretty upward "wings," back down again. The effect: The eyeliner makes the eyes look heavy and pulls them downwards. The solution: With relaxed eyebrows and eyes open straight towards the mirror, draw a line from the desired endpoint of the eyeliner line across the crease of the eyelid down to the outer corner of the eye. Any gaps that arise are then filled in by raising the eyebrow, lowering the eyes, and connecting the two resulting lines with the liquid eyeliner. Finally, fill in the resulting triangle from the outer corner of the eye to the endpoint of the line.
However, don't extend the connecting line to the lash line all the way to the middle of the eyelid. Instead, use liquid eyeliner to draw a slightly flatter line, only reaching the last quarter of the eyelid line. This creates a clean cat-eye look that won't be obscured by droopy eyelids. Often, just applying mascara to the lashes is enough to give the eyes more depth and radiance. The eyeliner doesn't even have to extend all the way to the inner corner of the eye. Finally, the wing tip can be adjusted to a smaller size with an opaque concealer; alternatively, a light eyeshadow underneath can further lift the eye.
Buy liquid eyeliner – conveniently and online
For lining a droopy eyelid, classic black eyeliners are generally more suitable. Of course, UND GRETEL also offers color and texture variations in its online shop! TINCTE in the COPPER shade, for example, is a liquid eyeliner in metallic orange that creates beautifully radiant effects. It makes the eyes appear larger and more defined, yet draws attention in a completely different way than its black counterpart. The metallic effect of this liquid eyeliner is both classic and progressive, creating a mirror-like, glamorous glow.
