No more stressful commutes through rush hour traffic, no more noisy open-plan offices, no more masses of empty coffee-to-go cups filling the trash cans. Escaping the work routine definitely has its upsides. When I ask around among my friends, their morning routines are different in these times of working from home, especially in the challenging combination of homeschooling. Every extra minute in bed means getting pulled out. The nice blouse I usually wear to the office doesn't need ironing anyway. And anyway – sitting in front of the laptop in my home office in sweatpants is just too tempting. And for video meetings, my skincare and makeup routine can also be slimmed down.
When working from home, the boundaries between private and work life blur. While this initially sounds perfectly comfortable, it also leads to us feeling unmotivated and sluggish more quickly. And our skin suffers a bit too when we give it less fresh air, daylight, and attention. We now know how the office comes into the home. But how do we get it out again? We'll share with you 5 tips on how you can conjure up more color and freshness despite working from home – for your mood and your skin.
No.1 Rituals rule your morning
With a little less snooze and a little more time for a self-care beauty ritual, we start the day feeling much fresher, more alert, and more motivated. After washing our faces with cool water and the delicious aroma of coffee fills the kitchen, concealer is the perfect booster for our eyes. It's not for nothing that "coffee and concealer" are known as the morning's "wake-up" friends.
And for all those who don’t like coffee, then just “tea and TUNKAL ” ;-) It’s important to create a little routine in the morning that slowly opens up your day and gets it going.
No.2 Antioxidants for the “anti-blues” effect
We sit down in front of our laptops or computers in the morning, check WhatsApp messages during breaks, or seek distraction on Instagram and the like, and in the evening, we move three to five meters from the table to the sofa for a Netflix & Chill session. For our skin, this means constant noise, or rather illumination, from blue light from digital screens. The "blue light" effect: Blue light penetrates deep into the skin's layers and can cause damage there, as blue light is a friend of free radicals that attack skin cells. The consequences: wrinkles, premature skin aging, and dark spots are all promoted.
Anti-wrinkle with antioxidants
Antioxidants aren't called "radical scavengers" for nothing. They bind free radicals, thus rendering them harmless. Dull skin becomes more radiant and appears fresher and rosier. You can help your skin either externally with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, or retinal. Another option is to get it through your diet. These foods are among the superfoods with a high antioxidant content: blueberries, (red) tomatoes, coffee, nuts, carrots, and citrus fruits.
No.3 Holy Hydration
Working from home, especially in winter, also means constant exposure to dry, heated air. This causes the skin to lose a lot of moisture throughout the day, resulting in a pale complexion and a feeling of tightness. Hydration is the best thing for your skin right now – on multiple levels.
1. Drink water, my friend
Make sure you drink plenty of water or tea—at least 2 liters. This is probably the simplest and best tip for keeping your skin healthy and fresh in the long run! Infused water with cucumber, lemon, and mint is not only more fun to look at and tastes delicious, it also provides you with more vitamin C.
2. Heating & Hydration
It's best to place small bowls of water on your heater. Evaporation will humidify the room air.
3. Hydrate your skin
Moisturize your skin morning and evening with a moisturizing serum or cream that suits your skin type.
No. 4 Fresh Face with facial exercises
1. Wrinkles that offer a forehead
If you don't have one of these facial massage tools handy, your hands will do just fine. Clench your hands into a fist and, using your knuckles, gently massage from the center of your forehead outward, all the way behind your temples. You can repeat this process about 5 times.
2. A kissing exercise
If you haven't already incorporated oil pulling into your morning routine, you can replicate a similar movement. Shape your lips into a kissy mouth and move them from left to right and back. Repeat this exercise about 5 times. A little tip: Adding a little KNOT lip gloss to your lips makes it even more fun. ;-)
3. Face Up Lift
This exercise shapes your facial features. To do it, place your palms on your temples and press both hands back, parallel to each other, creating a feeling of tension. Then open your mouth in an "O" shape, relaxing your jaw. Hold this position for about 5 seconds and repeat about 2 more times.
No. 5 Color your life, pop up your lips
Just as colorful flowers look great on your home office desk, a little color can also brighten up your face. Grab your favorite TAGAROT lipstick or K NUTZEN lip gloss and apply it to your cheeks. It's okay to use a little more brushing, because—very important—you'll apply your LIETH foundation afterward. This will create the look of well-circulated, fresh, rosy cheeks.
And now it's time to pop up your lips. You'll see, with a TAGAROT smile in the mirror, you'll look so much fresher.
No. 6 Catch some fresh air
You spend a lot of time sitting in front of your computer, and the blue light and dry air from the heating system take a toll on your skin. That's why it feels a bit like you do when you give it less fresh air, daylight, and attention. This tip costs you NOTHING, except a little more time for yourself: More fresh air and a long walk are not only a boost for your skin, but also for your mood. ;-)
Are you craving some color in your home office life? Then go ahead and decorate to your heart's content.
