The Powder Brush and the magic of makeup
She is puffy, fluffy & absolutely pow(d)erful. It is this particularly wide and soft makeup brush that distributes delicate powder particles evenly over the skin, as if in a fairytale manner. There is basically no way around this vegan powder brush: After all, powder is one of the few makeup products from UND GRETEL for which fingers are unsuitable. In the realm of cosmetics, the powder brush reigns as the guardian of transformative powers. With a gentle touch, it gives the facial canvas shimmering delicacy, blurs imperfections and sets the perfect stage for a flawless makeup finish. As an indispensable tool in the arsenal of cosmetics lovers, this beauty brush is far more than a simple instrument. It is a medium for the manifestation of beauty. As a fundamental part of the makeup routine, it conjures up more radiance on the skin with just a few strokes - and blurs the boundaries between reality and illusion a little with every stroke.
Powder on the skin: The essence of elegance
To powder or not to powder – that is the question. Clear skin with powder creates an aura of sophistication, the complexion appears balanced as if with a soft focus that distributes light evenly and minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines: a polished finish that can withstand all the stresses and strains of the day. In contrast, a bare complexion lacks luminosity. It tends to be shiny, minor and major blemishes are less softened, and makeup is more likely to shift and fade. The strategic use of powder and a powder brush, on the other hand, gives the face a velvety, matte appearance – in short, a clean canvas for further enhancements.
It's not without reason that makeup brushes feature in the annals of cosmetic history. For centuries, the use of powders and colors to enhance complexion and appearance has been documented in various civilizations, from pre-Christian Egyptians to subjects of imperial China. However, the powder brush as we know it today first took shape during the Renaissance. It dates back to the court of the French "Sun King" Louis XIV. At the end of the 17th century, the nobility delighted in powdered wigs and elaborate makeup. For this purpose, finely ground powder was applied with makeup brushes made of natural hair, among other things.
Such early foundation brushes laid the foundation for the modern powder brush, which has since been further developed through various stages. Eventually, animal hair variations emerged, and with the advancement of plastic production, a wide variety of synthetic materials were also used. Today, there are a range of biosynthetic fibers used for cruelty-free alternatives for brushes and cosmetics. A combination of powdered wheat straw and cornstarch plastic proved to be ideal for the handles of UND GRETEL, while the brush hair is made from recycled plastic. This makes it durable, hygienic, and soft—and animals don't have to sacrifice anything for it.
At first glance, the Powder Brush may seem like a simple tool. But its design is carefully conceived to serve a single purpose: to envelop every complexion in a veil of perfection. Wide in shape and with a soft round tip, the Powder Brush distributes and blends the finest pigments evenly onto the skin. Whether it's powder, a highlighting bronzer like IMBE Multi Shadow or WONNE as blush or contour blush: if you don't have the special brushes to hand, the slightly flat shape of the Powder Brush always supports targeted color structuring. Its bristles are densely packed but luxuriously soft, and the curved, slightly rounded silhouette of the Powder Brush adapts seamlessly to the natural contours of the face. Powder is thus applied seamlessly and evenly to the face, whether all over or, for example, dusted over the T-zone with combination skin to keep shine under control.
Step by step: The Powder Brush in action:
For a makeup brush to reach its full potential, you should know its importance and the order in which it should be used in your daily beauty and makeup routine.
- Preparation: It all starts with a freshly cleansed complexion that's adequately moisturized for the day. This creates the smoothest canvas for makeup.
- Foundation: If you want to use a foundation like LIETH or a tinted CCC Cream, apply it with your fingers, a concealer brush, or a makeup sponge and blend it seamlessly. The skin gets a natural-looking finish that ensures more color balance.
-
Concealer: The TUNKAL concealer then conceals any remaining small blemishes or discolorations. It is gently worked into the skin with the fingertips or the concealer brush.
- Setting powder: Now apply a translucent setting powder with the ILGE Setting Powder using the Powder Brush. Ideally, you should start in the center of the face and gently sweep the Powder Brush and powder outward in light, circular motions. If you only want to mattify the T-zone, blend lightly into any areas that tend to shine, such as the forehead, nose, and chin. ILGE, this "Photoshop to go," has a weightless mattifying effect and can be reapplied repeatedly without adding to the effect.
- Buffing: To blend the powder seamlessly into the skin, the Powder Brush is moved along the jawline and forehead in a circular buffing motion to seamlessly blend the skin and pigments.
