The 5 most important make-up trends for summer 2020

Die 5 wichtigsten Make-Up Trends für den Sommer 2020

Trends are wonderful, as they provide new and fresh inspiration. They lighten things up and are simply fun. However, there's one small catch with trends – they fade. What I'm trying to say is: Not every new trend requires a new product. Be your own makeup artist – with a little creativity, you can incorporate current trends with our timeless classics and versatile products.

New York, London, Milan and Paris – not only do the fashion capitals provide the fashion impulses, but the make-up on the catwalks of the world also sets the trends for the coming season.

This combines all the make-up trends for 2020: Whether eyes, lips, eyebrows or even NO make-up – the focus makes the look perfect.

These are the top 5 makeup trends

Here's a brief overview of the trends you can expect: The pastel and watercolor look for eyelids is absolutely eye-catching. In addition to these statement eyes, natural trends, the no-makeup look, and defined feathered brows are absolutely on trend. Edgy wings, this slightly different eyeliner style, highlights the eyes in a special way. And of course, a lip gloss is a must: Rich and colorful power lips complete the summer trends. These are the top 5 makeup trends—including UND GRETEL's guide to styling them.

Trend No. 1: Ocean eyes in a pastel & watercolor look.

Was Billie Eilish’s hit Ocean Eyes really the inspiration for the look?

We don't know. But what we do know is that this look is super fresh and also a bit for the bold among us—pastel tones with a watercolor look.

What makes this look special: dreamy tones in pink and rose and, above all, water colors like light blue and turquoise.

Ocean Eyes

And here's how it works:

First, apply the transparent ILGE powder as a primer to the entire eyelid to help the colors stay put. For the perfect pastel watercolor look, apply the IMBE Eye Shadow in SEASHELL all over the eyelid. Then, mix the TUNKAL concealer with either the dark green PINE or the dark blue shade on the back of your hand and apply it either all over the eyelid and beyond the crease, or in the corner of the eye and the outer eye crease as an accent, blending well.

Those who are bold can also apply the color along the lower lash line or combine blue, green, and pink. For a pink accent, try KNUTZEN lip gloss in MATTE RASPBERRY or TAGAROT lipstick in PINK BLOSSOM . Simply dab it onto the outer eye crease as an accent and blend outward.

Complete the look with understated lips. To do this, dab TAGAROT lipstick in the shade ROSÉ onto your lips. Finally, apply a touch of KNUTZEN lip gloss in the shade APRICOT SHIMMER to your lips and cheeks for a natural, slightly shimmering, and fresh finish.

Trend No. 2: A slightly different eyeliner look – Edgy Wings.

Like a brush stroke, the wide ends of the eyeliner extend far beyond the outer corner of the eye and create a very intense look.

This look takes some practice. To help you achieve these wide, graphic wings, we'll give you trick 17.

Edgy Wings

And here's how it works:

Not everyone can achieve the perfect line right away. That's not a problem at all. Our trick: Use the HOLT Eye Pencil in the shade MOCHA 02 to outline your edgy wing, then trace the light line with the TINCTE Liquid Eye Liner.

The classic wing is best achieved with a triangle. Place one dot at the beginning and one at the end of the lash line, and one further beyond it toward the temple. First, connect these three dots with the eye pencil before tracing the lines with TINCTE Liquid Eye Liner. Then, simply fill in the inside of the triangle with Tincte.

The trendy edgy wings are created by the eyeliner resembling a bar—a bit like the line drawn with a wide highlighter. To create a beautifully defined line, you can extend the lower lash line upwards with the HOLT Eye Pencil. Add another line parallel to the upper lash line and make it almost as long as the outer line. Connect the ends with a line to create a sort of rectangle. Now, use the TINCTE Liquid Eyeliner to draw a thick line along the upper lash line, filling in the pre-drawn rectangle.

Complete the look with nude mirror lips. Apply the highly pigmented KNUTZEN lip gloss in MATTE NUDE 03. Admittedly, this beauty trend isn't exactly office-appropriate. But the next party will come...

Trend No. 3: Feather Brows.

The lip gloss trend from the 90s is back – but the thinly plucked eyebrow from the 90s is not.

This year, thick, bushy eyebrows dominated again, which were brushed upwards by the make-up artists and – of course – not plucked.

Feather Brows – every single hair counts.

Feather Brows

And here's how it works:

Using the brush from the SPRUSSE Eyebrow Pencil, comb the hair upwards. This is actually the most important step for feather brows—always work upwards.
It's important that the eyebrow pencil is sharpened. Use individual, small strokes to finely outline the gaps in the brow in the direction you combed. A bit like using a rake in a Zen garden or in sand. The individual strokes should be recognizable as such. Therefore, it's important that they are fine strokes and not bars.

And now comes the best friend for feather brows: eyebrow gel. For the perfect finish, work the hairs upwards with FROH Brow Gel. To do this, hold the brush upright rather than sideways, always pulling upwards. FROH contains natural tree waxes that coat, condition, thicken, and define the individual hairs.

The look is completed with a light shimmer on the cheekbones. To do this, dab IMBE Eye Shadow in the shade SEASHELL over the cheekbones with your fingers.

Trend No. 4: Power Lips.

POW WOW – now comes the ultimate lip gloss. The trend for summer 2020: Powerful Lips.

Rusty red with an orange hue is the trend color of the summer. With gently tanned skin and a summer dress, it puts the spotlight on the lips.

This summery “Snow White look” can be dressed up in the evening with berry tones, making it absolutely party-worthy.

Power Lips

And here's how it works:

Apply the summer-trendy color RED POPPY from the Lipstick TAGAROT line to your lips. The color is inspired by poppies and has a very light orange nuance within the red tone. It's important to dab the color onto your lips with your fingertips after application. This allows the lipstick's natural color pigments to blend with your skin's pigments. The lipstick blends with your natural lip color and lasts longer. Then use the old-fashioned tissue trick—press it onto your lips once and apply the lipstick a second time.

For true power lips, here's the ultimate insider tip: Always mix warm and cool colors. To achieve this, apply the cool MATTE RASBERRY KNUTZEN lip gloss over the warm RED POPPY color. You'll be amazed: This creates a true, radiant firework display on your lips. That's what we call POWER LIPS.

The look is subtly completed by applying a touch of lip gloss to the cheeks as a light rosy blush. WINT mascara in the brown shade CHESTNUT opens up the eyes without over-emphasizing them or taking the focus away from the lips.

Trend No. 5: NO makeup.

In this case, no make-up does not mean without make-up.

To achieve the no-makeup look, you need one thing above all: a flawless complexion.

The perfect finish of this trend is natural, fresh and with just one focus: nothing is really emphasized – except the natural beauty.

NO makeup

And here's how it works:

It's best to prep your skin beforehand with a moisturizer or nourishing facial oil. Then apply the light LIETH foundation in the shade that suits you best. To do this, apply the foundation evenly to your face with your fingers like a cream, then press it in lightly with your hands at the end.

The TUNKAL concealer evens out minor blemishes and dark circles. Simply apply small dots to slightly reddened areas and under the eyes and pat in with your finger.

Then, using the SPRUSSE eyebrow pencil, draw in a slightly natural line on your brows and then comb them out nicely with the brush so that the hairs create a super-natural but full frame on your face.
The trendy look is perfected with a little KNUTZEN Gloss in the shade NUDE SHIMMER 07. Apply a little to the center of the lips and dab lightly with your fingers.
The make-up look is ready and looks like no make-up at all.

Sun-kissed, light and radiant – for all those who find trends interesting but would still like some inspiration for a bit of summer on their face, we have also put together a summery make-up routine

The UND GRETEL summer look in 10 steps:

Step 1:

The perfect base is the light and natural LIETH foundation. Applied with your hands like a cream, the foundation warms up and blends perfectly with your complexion.

Step 2:

You can conceal minor redness and dark circles with the TUNKAL concealer. Apply small drops to the affected areas and dab in with your fingers.

Step 3:

To ensure that your make-up stays put even in summer temperatures, you can mattify your face with the transparent powder ILGE .
To do this, apply the powder puff to your T-zone and press it in. It might look a bit light at first, but the translucent powder sets the foundation, blends into your complexion, and refines your pores.

Step 4:

The frame for your face: With the SPRUSSE Brow Pencil, you can trace your natural brow shape. For a particularly natural look, you can finely draw individual hairs in the direction of growth and then comb them out with the brush.

Step 5:

Easy eye makeup with the Cream Eye Stick LUK . Simply sweep the bronze-colored stick along the eyelid line and add a line to the crease. Blend easily with your fingertips – done.

Step 6:

Sun-kissed with the SUNNE Contouring Powder in the shade BERO . For a summer look, apply the bronzer to the cheekbones and the sides of the brow bone. Basically, anywhere the sun would shine. Then apply the second, darker color under the cheekbones and along the contours of the face (hairline and chin area), blending it in with a brush in circular motions.

Step 7:

For a shiny finish, use the IMBE Eye Shadow in the shade SEASHELL . When applied over the Creamy Eye Shadow, your eye makeup takes on a metallic, fresh look.

Step 8:

For the perfect eye look, apply WINT mascara in two coats. Important: Apply the first coat starting from the lash line and sweeping upwards – be sure to let it dry slightly afterward. The second coat is best applied after applying lip makeup. This way, you've made the most of your break. Then, apply the mascara only to the tips of your lashes – this will visually lengthen them slightly. This opens up your eyes and creates a totally fresh look.

Step 9:

You can achieve colorful, juicy lips in a summery tone by combining TAGAROT lipstick and KNUTZEN gloss. As an alternative to the color trend in the Power Lips section, we have a berry version for you. Apply TAGAROT lipstick in the shade LOVE BERRY and dab it onto your lips with your fingertips. This allows the natural color pigments to blend optimally with your lip color, ensuring better hold.
Next, apply a little KNUTZEN gloss in MATTE RASPBERRY —a lovely pink shade—over the lipstick. You've got colorful summer lips.

Step 10:

Blush Baby – for a more summery look, you can dab a little of the KNUTZEN gloss onto your cheeks with your finger. This way, your lip color will automatically match the blush, and the glossy texture will give you shiny, juicy cheeks.
