Microplastics
Hard for the average person to identify at first glance, these appear in the ingredients list under designations such as polyethylene (PE) or poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) – in other words, they can generally be identified by the prefix “poly.”
Few people would expect there to be plastic in their makeup. Yet many lipsticks, lip glosses, eyeshadows, powders, creams, and other products contain tiny plastic beads. Let’s get a little more precise: One in every five cosmetic products sold in the German-speaking world contains microplastics.
